Al Sharjah (ULB) added to their roster 28-year old American guard Shane Rector (188cm-82kg-1994, college: Utah State) for season 2022-23. Rector is the second import player in the roster as Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Kikanovic signed here earlier.
It is actually his comeback to Sharjah as he has played here before. He was about to sign at Ahly Benghazi in Libyan D1 league. Rector ended the last season at Jahraa (also in D1) in Kuwaiti. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. But the most of that year he spent at Ohod in Saudi Arabian SBL where in 19 games he recorded very impressive stats: 30.4ppg, 7.2rpg, 3.0apg and 2.4spg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL 2nd Team, All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week (2 times).
Rector is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Asia, Africa and of course North America) in four different countries. He has played previously professionally in Qatar (Al Gharafa), Tunisia (US Monastir), United Arab Emirates (Al Wasl and Al Bataeh) and TBL (Albany Patroons). Rector won Saudi Arabian League championship title in 2018 and 2019.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was selected Asia-Basket.com All-Saudi Arabian SBL Import Player of the Year back in 2018.
He graduated from Utah State in 2017 and it is his sixth season as a professional player.
