BTL Round 7 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with Banvas' defeat of Air Force

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in BTL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bangkok: Banvas (#6) and Air Force (#6). Banvas (2-4) won against visiting Air Force (2-4) 94-82. Banvas made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Hammond (191-2000, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian-Jamaican swingman Kareem Jackson (195-1988) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Donald Vaughn (195-1990, college: VWU) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for Air Force. Banvas maintains sixth place with 2-4 record, which they share with Pythons and Air Force. Air Force lost third consecutive game. Banvas' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bangkok to the arena Warriors.
An interesting game for Hitech (6-0) which hosted in Bangkok 3rd placed Crypto Cobra (4-2). Leader Hitech had an easy win 99-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Crypto Cobra. It was a great evening for international center Emmanuel Ejesu (203-2004) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Nakorn Jaisanuk helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Hitech have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record, which they share with Shoot it Dragons. Crypto Cobra at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with TGE. Hitech's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bangkok to the arena TGE.

This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked White Lions (3-3) 97-71 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Afnan Charansarn who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Daison Hughes came up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for Th.Gorillas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. White Lions maintains fifth place with 3-3 record. Th.Gorillas lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. White Lions will meet league's second-placed Shoot it Dragons in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Th.Gorillas will play against Crypto Cobra (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 7 Shoot it Dragons beat Pythons on the road 86-71. TGE destroyed Warriors on its own court 120-60.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 25 points and 8 rebounds by Bobby Arthur-Williams of TGE.



Th.Gorillas - White Lions 71-97

Bottom-ranked Gorillas is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked White Lions (3-3) 97-71 on Saturday evening. White Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Gorillas' 48. White Lions outrebounded Th.Gorillas 54-38 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. White Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Th.Gorillas' players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Afnan Charansarn (186-1997) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Beninese-Turkish guard Marc Seylan-Agbo (193-1992, college: UMES) accounted for 23 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Four White Lions players scored in double figures. American guard Daison Hughes (189-2000, college: WOU) came up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and center Jirat Ritsri (196-2001) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Th.Gorillas in the defeat. Pythons - Shoot it Dragons 71-86

No shocking result in a game when leader Shoot it Dragons (6-0) beat 8th ranked Pythons (2-4) in Pathum Thani 86-71 on Saturday. Shoot it Dragons dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Pythons' 26. They outrebounded Pythons 48-33 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American Eric Freeman (201-1997, college: Brunswick) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 25 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Accheaus Fields (187-1997, college: Averett) accounted for 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Arnat Phuangla (193-1996) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and forward Mohammed Diaby (196) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Pythons in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Shoot it Dragons. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hitech. Loser Pythons dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Air Force and Banvas. Shoot it Dragons will meet at home White Lions (#5) in the next round. Pythons will play against Air Force in Bangkok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when 9th ranked Warriors (1-5) were smashed by fourth ranked TGE (4-2) in Bangkok 120-60 on Saturday. TGE dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Warriors' 32. TGE forced 23 Warriors turnovers and outrebounded them 52-23 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. TGE looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Warriors' players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Bobby Arthur-Williams (201-1997, college: Pitt St., agency: Starting 5) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. Watcharachat Thongpakdee (186) accounted for 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four TGE players scored in double figures. American forward Dequandre Dentmond (203-1995, college: Dillard) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Javan Smith (188-1996, college: Palm Beach) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Warriors in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TGE moved-up to third place, which they share with Crypto Cobra. Loser Warriors keep the ninth position with five games lost. TGE's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bangkok Hitech.
