TBL Round 2 (Second Stage): Tigers lose to Devil Rays

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game of round 2 took place in where Devil Rays beat Tigers 82-78 on Sunday night. They outrebounded Tigers 43-30 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Devil Rays looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Devil Rays made 8 blocks. The former international Toby Sathitsumpan (182-2001) scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Tew Fra chipped in 14 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-1988) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Tigers' coach Chakrapan Chuithaisong rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tigers will play next round against strong SWU trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Devil Rays will try to continue on its current victory against T-REX in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Very significant was Pythons' 97-88 road victory against T-REX. Apisittinan Dasom notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Taishaun Johnson supported him with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Pythons' coach S. Kao allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 23 points and 20 rebounds by American Tevis Robinson (198-1995, college: JWU, FL) did not help to save the game for T-REX. Pythons will play against Wave in the next round. T-REX will play against Devil Rays to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. SWU played at the court of Wave. SWU smashed Wave 134-102 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Argel Mendoza who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 assists. Hernal Esconio produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the hosts. Wave's coach J. Martinez gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. SWU will meet Tigers in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Wave will play against Pythons and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks by Sergii Pryimak of SWU.




T-REX - Pythons 88-97

Very significant was Pythons' 97-88 road victory against T-REX. Apisittinan Dasom notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American point guard Taishaun Johnson (183-1994, college: PVAMU) supported him with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Johnson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Pythons' coach S. Kao allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 23 points and 20 rebounds by American Tevis Robinson (198-1995, college: JWU, FL) did not help to save the game for T-REX. Filipino point guard Jeff Dumelod Viernes (172-1989) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Pythons will play against Wave in the next round. T-REX will play against Devil Rays to get more than just one victory in their record.

They looked well-organized offensively handing out 48 assists comparing to just 26 passes made by Wave's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when SWU made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Filipino Argel Mendoza who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 assists. Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-1996, agency: BIG) chipped in 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Hernal Esconio produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and Filipino point guard James Martinez (170-1987) added 26 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts.
