Morakinyo Williams gets MVP of the Week award for Thailand TBL (by Hoops Agents)- July 24, 2023
The 35-year old center had a double-double of 31 points and twenty four rebounds, while his team crushed Pythons (#5, 5-4) with 25-point margin 105-80. Wave maintains the 2nd position in Thailand TBL. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Wave will need more victories to improve their 7-2 record. Williams has many years of experience at Wave, through which he has constantly improved. The Citadel graduate has very impressive stats this year. Williams is in league's top in points (8th best: 24.6ppg), rebounds (6th best: 14.2rpg) and averages solid 54.9% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-G/F-1996, agency: BIG) of SWU. Pryimak impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 26 rebounds. Of course he led SWU to another comfortable win 112-98 over the lower-ranked Eagles (#7, 4-5) being unquestionably team leader. Despite this victory SWU slide down in the standings to 4th position. His team's 6-3 record is not bad at all. Pryimak is one of the most experienced players at SWU and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last round was American Avery Scharer (185-PG-1986) of T-REX (#3). Scharer showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and twenty two assists (!!!) in the last round. He was a key player of T-REX, leading his team to a 120-92 easy win against Kings (#10, 0-9). T-REX needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 3 lost games. Scharer has a great season in Thailand. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.0ppg (6th best) and assists with 13.6apg (best passer). He also has 3.8spg and FGP: 55.9%. Scharer attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Other top performing players last week: 4. Raymond Miller (204-C-1988) of Wave - 22 points and 28 rebounds 5.
