TBL Round 7: Tigers lose their first game against T-REX- July 20, 2023
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Kings - Wave 116-125 Very expected game when bottom-ranked Kings (0-7) were defeated at home by third ranked Wave (5-2) 125-116 on Tuesday. Wave dominated down low during the game scoring 96 of its points in the paint compared to Kings' 62. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. Filipino point guard James Martinez (170-1987) fired a triple-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. Hernal Esconio chipped in 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Adrain Calada produced 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 9 assists and Marlon Monte added 24 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wave moved-up to second place, which they share with SWU. Kings at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. Wave will meet Pythons (#4) in the next round. Kings will play against T-REX (#6) in Nakhon Ratchasima and hope to get finally their first victory. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked T-REX (4-3) 91-83. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Tigers. T-REX looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American Tevis Robinson (198-1995, college: JWU, FL) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Avery Scharer (185-1986, college: Shoreline CC) helped adding 22 points, 17 rebounds, 14 assists and 7 steals. Robinson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Nattapat Biasumrit responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and guard Takamin Sirijariyaporn (181-1997) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tigers' coach Chakrapan Chuithaisong rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. T-REX moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Devil Rays and Pythons. Tigers at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. T-REX is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Kings (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tigers will play against Mammoth (#9) and are hoping to win this game. SWU shot 25 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Devil Rays only scored six points from the stripe. SWU forced 22 Devil Rays turnovers. Devil Rays were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-1996, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Ukrainian-Bulgarian guard Vladislav Ungurian (190-1995, agency: Dreamer Sports Agency) accounted for 29 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Toby Sathitsumpan (182-2001) came up with 19 points and American guard Jose Nouchanthavong (187, college: S.Maine) added 13 points, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively for Devil Rays in the defeat. Devil Rays' coach S. Premprapan tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. SWU (5-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with Wave. Defending champion Devil Rays dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with T-REX and Pythons. SWU will play against Eagles (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Devil Rays will play against Thunders and hope to get back on the winning track. Eighth ranked Thunders (3-4) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Pythons (4-3). Thunders managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pythons. American guard Aaron Williams (198-1991, college: Chicago St.) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winners. Polish Robert Kowalczyk (202-1995) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Sarion McGee (203, college: John A.Logan) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Singapore point guard Zhong Han Wong (183-1997) added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Four Pythons players scored in double figures. Thunders moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Eagles. Newly promoted Pythons keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with T-REX and Devil Rays. Thunders will meet Eagles (#7) in the next round. Pythons will play against the league's second-placed Wave having rather not much hope for a victory. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mammoth's 32. Filipino guard Patrick Cabahug (186) fired 40 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners. Filipino Edsel Magisa chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Eagles' coach C. Ritual used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Alex Smith (201-1988, college: BCU) produced 6 points, 21 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Chalormdech Limsuwan (190) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Eagles have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Eagles maintains seventh place with 3-4 record, which they share with Thunders. Mammoth lost third consecutive game. Mammoth at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Eagles will meet at home Thunders (#8) in the next round. Mammoth will play against the league's leader Tigers having rather not much hope for a victory.
