TBL Round 2: Leader Devil Rays lose to Tigers- July 10, 2023
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Pythons - Mammoth 88-70 Pythons used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 88-70 on Sunday night. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Sarion McGee (203, college: John A.Logan) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 21 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Brian Garrett (193, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 27 points during the contest. Garrett is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Kamani Rashad Hodges (185-1994, college: Clearwater Chr.) responded with 19 points and forward Alex Smith (201-1988, college: BCU) scored 4 points and 15 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pythons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mammoth will play against Kings and hope to win that game. SWU looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-1996, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and Filipino Argel Mendoza chipped in 21 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four SWU players scored in double figures. Marlon Monte responded with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Adrain Calada scored 23 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SWU will meet Thunders in the next round where they are favorite. Kings will play against Mammoth and hope to win that game. T-REX forced 20 Eagles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Eagles' players. Filipino point guard Jeff Dumelod Viernes (172-1989) scored 54 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Avery Scharer (185-1986, college: Shoreline CC) chipped in 21 points, 16 rebounds, 17 assists and 7 steals during the contest. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four T-REX players scored in double figures. Filipino guard Patrick Cabahug (186) responded with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Patrick Tchuente produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. T-REX will meet at home Devil Rays in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Eagles will have a break next round. Wave played at the court of Thunders. Wave defeated Thunders 93-78. They outrebounded Thunders 55-35 including a 42-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Raymond Miller (204-1988, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 23 rebounds and 5 assists. British center Morakinyo Williams (209-1988, college: Citadel) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Wave players scored in double figures. American guard Trent Baker (191-1996, college: CBC) replied with 31 points and 5 rebounds and Polish Robert Kowalczyk (202-1995) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Thunders. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wave will play against Mammoth in the next round where they are favorite. Thunders will play against SWU to get more than just one victory in their record. Pythons played at the court of Eagles. Pythons smashed Eagles 105-80 on Saturday. Pythons dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 42. They outrebounded Eagles 62-38 including a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pythons looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Eagles' players. American forward Sarion McGee (203, college: John A.Logan) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Brian Garrett (193, college: CS Monterey) chipped in 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Worth to mention Garrett played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Pythons' coach S. Kao felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Hosts were edged by Tigers 83-82. Tigers forced 23 Devil Rays turnovers. Strangely Devil Rays outrebounded Tigers 49-36 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tanner Hazelbaker (184, college: WBU) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-1988) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Tew Fra produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 28 rebounds and the former international Toby Sathitsumpan (182-2001) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Tigers is looking forward to face Kings in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Devil Rays will play against T-REX in Nakhon Ratchasima and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
