TBL Round 3: Tigers keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Tigers smashed Kings in Bangkok 93-39. Tigers held Kings to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Tigers forced 24 Kings turnovers and outrebounded them 55-38 including a 39-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-1988) who scored 8 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Takamin Sirijariyaporn (181-1997) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Marlon Monte who recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Kings' coach R. Mortel gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kings will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Tigers will try to continue on its current victory against Pythons on the road.
Another exciting game was played in Nakhon Ratchasima between Devil Rays and T-REX where Devil Rays (3-1) beat T-REX (2-2) on the road 102-88. It was a good game for the former international Toby Sathitsumpan (182-2001) who led his team to a victory with 50 points (!!!). Tew Fra contributed with 18 points, 26 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Devil Rays' coach S. Premprapan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Avery Scharer (185-1986, college: Shoreline CC) answered with 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists for T-REX. Devil Rays will play against Eagles (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. T-REX will play against Thunders (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
SWU delivered the third victory on Saturday night. This time they beat Thunders (1-3) 93-82. It was a great evening for Argel Mendoza who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 5 assists and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was Aaron Williams with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Thunders' coach P. Prasarnkaew rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SWU will meet at home Wave in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Thunders will play against T-REX (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 3 Wave crushed Mammoth in a road game 112-64. Winless Kings was beaten by Mammoth at home 60-64.
The best stats of 3rd round was 7 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks by Alex Smith of Mammoth.

Thunders - SWU 82-93

SWU delivered the third victory on Saturday night. This time they beat Thunders (1-3) 93-82. SWU looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for Filipino Argel Mendoza who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 5 assists and 5 steals. Eduardo Doroteo helped adding 26 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Aaron Williams (198-1991, college: Chicago St.) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Trent Baker (191-1996, college: CBC) scored 23 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Thunders' coach P. Prasarnkaew rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SWU will meet at home Wave in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Thunders will play against T-REX (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mammoth - Wave 64-112

There was no surprise when Mammoth (1-3) was crushed at home by Wave (4-0) 112-64 on Saturday. Wave dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mammoth's 18. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Mammoth's players. It was a great evening for Filipino point guard James Martinez (170-1987) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 15 assists. American center Raymond Miller (204-1988, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 22 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Wave players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Chalormdech Limsuwan (190) with 21 points and Cholasit Kitbumroong (-2000) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wave will meet SWU (#4) in the next round. Mammoth will have a break next round.

Kings - Mammoth 60-64

But Kings were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from 64-60 on Sunday night. Strangely Kings outrebounded Mammoth 59-41 including 21 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mammoth made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Filipino guard Mark Doligon (189) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Alex Smith (201-1988, college: BCU) helped adding 7 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks. The best for the losing side was Jonathan Ballon with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and Marlon Monte produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
