Johnson number one in Thailand TBL for round 9 (by Hoops Agents)- July 14, 2022
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (36 points, five rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass SWU (#6, 3-6) with 28-point margin 118-90. It allowed Devil Rays to consolidate first place in the Thailand TBL. Devil Rays have a solid 8-1 record. In the team's last game Johnson had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Devil Rays, through which he has constantly improved. Former Prairie View A&M University star has very solid stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 27.0ppg) and averages impressive 3.3spg and 62.5% FGP. Worth to mention Johnson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second best player in last round's games was another Devil Rays' star - young American Moses Morgan (198-SF-1992). Morgan had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 19 rebounds. Of course together with Johnson he helped Devil Rays with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked SWU (#6, 3-6) 118-90. Of course Devil Rays still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 8 matches. Morgan is one of the most experienced players at Devil Rays and similarly like Taishaun Johnson has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.2ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 12.2rpg and 3.4apg. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Joshua Keyes (201-F-1995, agency: PBAplayers Agency) of league's second-best Hitech. Keyes showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, eighteen rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Hitech, leading his team to a 78-64 easy win against #3 ranked Bangkok Tigers in a game of the week. Hitech is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 8-1 record is not that bad... The season just started for Keyes as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Keyes attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Other top performing players last week: 4. Robert Kowalczyk (202-PF-1995) of Mad Goat - 12 points, 23 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Frederick Jones-Goldstein (178-PG-1988) of Shoot it Dragon - 33 points and 4 rebounds 6. Anasawee Klaewnarong (199-C-1993) of TGE - 12 points and 18 rebounds 7. Jarron Crump (183-PG-1992) of TGE - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists 8. Natthaworn Banjathon (179-G) of SWU - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists 9. Joe Mvuezolo (197-F-1996) of TGE - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 10. Panthawat Techasamran (G/F) of Shoot it Dragon - 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
