New Taipei CTBC DEA (T1 League) added to their roster experienced 35-year old American point guard Avery Scharer (185cm-1986, college: Shoreline CC). Scharer has played for the last one seasons at Sting Rays in Thailand TBL league.
He has played also professionally in Malaysia (WM Dragons) and ABA (Seattle M.).
Scharer is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at New Taipei CTBC DEA.
He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.
Scharer graduated from Shoreline Community College in 2012 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.
