TBL Round 2: Bangkok Tigers defeat Thunders

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Thunders at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Bangkok Tigers 70-65. Bangkok Tigers outrebounded Thunders 55-36 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American point guard Tanner Hazelbaker (184, college: WBU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists. point guard Hiran Boateng (172-1) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Guard Apisittinan Dasom (188-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for Thunders. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bangkok Tigers is looking forward to face Sting Rays in the next round where they are favorite. Thunders will play against Mad Goat in Nakorn Phantom and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Another interesting game for Shoot it Dragon which played in Nakorn Phantom against Mad Goat. Shoot it Dragon had an easy win 79-64. The former international Tawatchai Suktub (186-87) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Kannut Samerjai chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. point guard Suchon Maitampitak (176) responded with 18 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shoot it Dragon will play against TGE in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mad Goat will play against Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Nakhon Ratchasima between Dunkin' Raptors and T-REX. Dunkin' Raptors got a very close victory on the road over T-REX. Dunkin' Raptors managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Dunkin' Raptors will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. T-REX will play against Hitech and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 2 Sting Rays was beaten by Hitech on the road 65-47. TGE won against SWU on its own court 71-54.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 8 points and 18 rebounds by Richard Latham of Dunkin'' Raptors.



Thunders - Bangkok Tigers 65-70

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Thunders at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Bangkok Tigers 70-65. Bangkok Tigers outrebounded Thunders 55-36 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Thunders will play against Mad Goat in Nakorn Phantom and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

Mad Goat - Shoot it Dragon 64-79

Another interesting game for Shoot it Dragon which played in Nakorn Phantom against Mad Goat. Shoot it Dragon had an easy win 79-64. Shoot it Dragon made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Mad Goat turnovers. Hitech - Sting Rays 65-47

There was a small surprise when Hitech beat Sting Rays in Bangkok 65-47 on Sunday. Hitech forced 27 Sting Rays turnovers. The former international Patiphan Klahan (201-93) notched 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Wattana Suttisin (183-85) supported him with 16 points. Even 13 points and 8 rebounds by the former international Arnat Phuangla (193-96) did not help to save the game for Sting Rays. The former international guard Jittaphon Towaroj (186-91) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitech will meet T-REX in the next round where they are favorite. Sting Rays will play against Bangkok Tigers and hope to win that game.

TGE - SWU 71-54

Very expected game when SWU lost on the road to TGE 71-54 on Sunday. TGE forced 28 SWU turnovers. Congolese point guard Ngongo Bienvenue (182) notched 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and guard Manatkawin Booddoung (177) supported him with 17 points. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by international center Afnan Charansarn (188-97) did not help to save the game for SWU. Guard Natthaworn Banjathon (179) added 16 points and 4 steals for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. TGE will meet Shoot it Dragon in the next round. SWU will play against Dunkin' Raptors and hope to win that game.
