TBSL Round 5: #1 Luang is defeated by Raptors- February 24, 2020
TBSL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 5 rounds left. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Luang - Raptors 79-81 The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Luang (3-1) in Laos on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Raptors (3-1) 81-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Luang. Raptors had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Reginald Johnson (208-89, college: Miami, FL) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Avery Scharer (185-86, college: Shoreline CC) chipped in 28 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Filipino forward Christopher Ellis (192) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Bobby Syvanthong (179, college: UMFK) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Raptors have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 3-1 record behind leader Hitech, which they share with defeated Luang. Raptors is looking forward to face Adroit (#6) in Singapore in the next round. Luang will play against Kabayan (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
