TBL Round 5 (Second Stage): HiTech defeats Raptors in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An interesting game for HiTech (14-1) which played road game in against 4th placed Raptors (9-6). First ranked HiTech had an easy win 81-49. HiTech dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Raptors' 28. HiTech forced 24 Raptors turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Swingman Raymond Canady-Jr (201-84, college: Valdosta St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for Raptors. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HiTech have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Raptors at the other side keep the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Shoot it Dragon. HiTech are looking forward to face Mad Goat (#3) in Nakorn Phantom in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Raptors will play against Shoot it Dragon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for TGE (13-2) which hosted in 3rd placed Mad Goat (10-5). Second ranked TGE managed to get a 5-point victory 82-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mad Goat. British center Morakinyo Williams (210-88, college: Citadel) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Rashad Bishop chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. TGE's coach Apaipong Netsiriswan used entire bench in such tough game. American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) responded with a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for TGE. They maintain second place with 13-2 record behind leader T-REX. Mad Goat at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. TGE will play against SWU (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mad Goat will play against the league's leader HiTech (#1) in Bangkok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Maurice Kirby nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Gabriel Yeumo came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 21 rebounds for Thunders in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shoot it Dragon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Raptors. Thunders lost their sixth game in a row. Thunders at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Shoot it Dragon will meet at home Raptors (#4) in the next round. Thunders will play against Bangkok Tigers (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Bangkok was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked SWU (5-10) played at the court of seventh ranked Bangkok Tigers (5-10). Bangkok Tigers managed to secure a 5-point victory 73-68. The best player for the winners was Joe Mvuezolo who scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bangkok Tigers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated SWU. SWU lost their fourth game in a row. Bangkok Tigers' next round opponent will be Thunders (#8).

The most impressive performance of 5th round was 20 points and 21 rebounds by John Kabwe of SWU.



Thunders - Shoot it Dragon 67-71

The game in was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Shoot it Dragon (9-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Thunders (3-12). Shoot it Dragon managed to secure a 4-point victory 71-67 on Sunday. Strangely Thunders outrebounded Shoot it Dragon 56-44 including 22 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Maurice Kirby (206-94, college: IUPUI) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) accounted for 12 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Worth to mention Kirby played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 21 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Fils Dongmo (201-89) added 20 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Thunders in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shoot it Dragon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Raptors. Thunders lost their sixth game in a row. British center Morakinyo Williams (210-88, college: Citadel) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American power forward Rashad Bishop (198-88, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Bangkok Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to SWU's 36. Bangkok Tigers forced 21 SWU turnovers. Strangely SWU outrebounded Bangkok Tigers 60-48 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) who scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Khunnarong Pratesrat chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Center John Kabwe (195-84) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 21 rebounds and guard Chatchon Kamchoo (176) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for the guests. Five SWU players scored in double figures. Bangkok Tigers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated SWU. SWU lost their fourth game in a row. Bangkok Tigers' next round opponent will be Thunders (#8).
