TBL Round 7: Raptors beat Mad Goat in the most crucial game of the week- July 7, 2019
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
TGE - Shoot it Dragon 83-66 Undefeated leader TGE delivered the seventh consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Shoot it Dragon (4-3) 83-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shoot it Dragon. TGE looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for British center Morakinyo Williams (210-88, college: Citadel) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international Anucha Langsui (200-93) helped adding 22 points. Four TGE players scored in double figures. At the losing side David Causon responded with 18 points and 7 assists and the former international swingman Boonchai Rittiphanyawong scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TGE (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Newly promoted Shoot it Dragon keeps the fifth position with three games lost. TGE will meet bottom-ranked MUBC (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shoot it Dragon will play against Raptors (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Host Raptors (5-2) smashed guests from Nakorn Phantom (5-3) 77-48. Raptors outrebounded Mad Goat 49-31 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Avery Scharer (185-86, college: Shoreline CC) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. His fellow American import center Anthony McClain (211-88, college: Cincinnati) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Scharer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Raptors' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Scott Sill (206-92, college: Delaware St.) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Danai Kongkum (193-85) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Raptors maintains third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader TGE. Mad Goat at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Raptors are looking forward to face Shoot it Dragon (#5) in the next round. Mad Goat will play against SWU and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win. Second ranked Hitech (6-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Thunders (2-5). Hitech smashed Thunders 96-47. Hitech held Thunders to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Hitech forced 34 Thunders turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Thunders' players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Guntapong Korsah-Dick (180-97) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 4 assists. American forward Chris Anderson (199-92, college: Louisiana Tech) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Cameroonian forward Fils Dongmo (201-89) came up with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Gabriel Yeumo (200-88) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Thunders in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hitech. Defending champion maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader TGE. Newly promoted Thunders keep the eighth position with five games lost. Hitech's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bangkok Bangkok Tigers. Bangkok Tigers outrebounded SWU 53-39 including 38 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Adam Stamford (195) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 23 rebounds. British forward Joe Mvuezolo (197-96, college: Montana St.) accounted for 29 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Guard Wuttikorn Niyomdej came up with 26 points and 6 rebounds and American center Rashad Ali (198, college: Warren Wilson) added 9 points and 17 rebounds respectively for SWU in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bangkok Tigers maintains sixth place with 3-4 record. SWU at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Bangkok Tigers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bangkok to the arena Hitech. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Vietnam, where they defeated MUBC (0-7) 81-77. T-REX players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Ngongo Bienvenue (182) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. German forward Patrick Braun (198) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 24 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four T-REX players scored in double figures. Guard Witchaya Phithakphawasutthi (180-0) answered with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals and point guard Nattapon Lertkijroongreung (183) added 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the effort for MUBC. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. T-REX (1-6) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. It was MUBC's seventh loss in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. T-REX will play against higher ranked Thunders (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MUBC will play against the league's leader TGE having rather not much hope for a victory.
