SBL Round 12 (Regular Season): #1 Yulon Luxgen is defeated by Changhua

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in SBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Yulon Luxgen (19-8) against fifth ranked Changhua on Wednesday night. Yulon Luxgen were defeated by fifth ranked Changhua (6-20) 69-62. Changhua dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Yulon Luxgen's 34. Strangely Yulon Luxgen outrebounded Changhua 46-34 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Filipino forward Nicholas Evans (210-1988, college: S.Indiana, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Tien-You Yang (170-1993) who added 13 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Brandon Moss (204-1994, college: LSUA) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Changhua maintains fifth position with 6-20 record. Yulon Luxgen at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Changhua are looking forward to face higher ranked Keelung BK (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yulon Luxgen will play against Keelung BK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Fourth-ranked Taiwan Beer (11-16) gave a tough game to first ranked Yulon Luxgen (19-8). Yulon Luxgen managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Taiwan Beer. The winners were led by American Brandon Moss (204-1994, college: LSUA) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks and Shao-Fu Lan supported him with 6 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds by Vincentian forward Brendon Smart (198-1995) did not help to save the game for Taiwan Beer. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yulon Luxgen maintains first position with 19-8 record. Taiwan Beer at the other side keeps the fourth place with 16 games lost. Yulon Luxgen will play against Keelung BK (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Very important is a loss of third ranked Keelung BK (12-14) against fourth ranked Taiwan Beer (11-16) on Wednesday night. Keelung BK was defeated by Taiwan Beer 81-70. Taiwan Beer forced 20 Keelung BK turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Gerard Tarin (205-1996, college: Nova SE) who scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Mongolian guard Cheng-An Hsieh (190-2000) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Tarin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Wendell Lewis (204-1989, college: Alabama St.) who recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds and forward Meng-Hsueh Lin (195-1993) added 14 points respectively. Bank of Taiwan - Keelung BK 71-67

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Keelung BK's (12-14) loss to second ranked Bank of Taiwan (18-8) 67-71 on Thursday. Bank of Taiwan forced 19 Keelung BK turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international Chieh-Yu Han (194-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward James Padgett (203-1991, college: Maryland) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Sheng-Lin Wang (205-2000) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and the former international guard Tzu-Kang Wang (183-1993) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Bank of Taiwan maintains second position with 18-8 record behind leader Yulon Luxgen.
