The most exciting game of round 19 in the WSBL ended with only one-point defeat of their biggest opponent Chunghwa Telecom (9-10) to third ranked Taiyuan Textile (7-12) 77-76 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chunghwa Telecom. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ajae Petty (190-2002, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds. The former international center Wen-Yu Lin (180-1995) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Taiyuan Textile's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Oshlynn Brown (185, college: Rutgers) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds for Chunghua T.Taiyuan T. maintains third place with 7-12 record having ten points less than leader Cathay Life. Chunghua T. at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Taiyuan T. are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Taipower (#4) in the next round. Chunghua T. will play against the league's leader Cathay Life and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Tigers (17-2) which played against 4th placed Power (5-14). First ranked Tigers had an easy win 80-52. It was a great evening for center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Shelby Cheslek helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the losing side the former international Yi-Wen Zhang (173-1996) responded with 10 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Taipower lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Cathay Life will play against league's second-placed Chunghua T. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taipower will play against Taiyuan T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
