WSBL Round 9 (Regular Season): Chunghua T. edge Taipower by two points

The most exciting game of round 9 in the WSBL ended with only two-point defeat of second-best Power (4-5) to third ranked Chunghwa Telecom (4-5) 63-61 in the game for the second place. Chunghua T. outrebounded Taipower 46-30 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Oshlynn Brown (185, college: Rutgers) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds. The former international swingman Yushu Lin (168-1996) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Yi-Wen Zhang (173-1996) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds. Power's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chunghua T. moved-up to second place, which they share with Taipower. Chunghua T. is looking forward to face league's leader Cathay Life in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taipower will play against Taiyuan T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game was when First ranked Tigers faced 4th placed Taiyuan Textile. Tigers (7-2) smashed Taiyuan Textile (3-6) 74-53. It was a good game for center Yu-Wen Hsiao (184-2005) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. Ling-Chuan Huang contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Emily Maupin (192-1999, college: Virginia) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for Taiyuan T.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-2 record. Taiyuan T. lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Cathay Life will play against Chunghua T. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Taiyuan T. will play against the league's second-placed Taipower and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
