WSBL Round 6 (Regular Season): Cathay Life lose to Taiyuan T.

Top ranked Tigers (4-2) recorded its second loss against fourth ranked Taiyuan Textile on Sunday night. Taiyuan Textile were defeated by fourth ranked Taiyuan Textile (3-3) 72-57. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Taiyuan T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Emily Maupin (192-1999, college: Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. The former international center Wen-Yu Lin (180-1995) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Ya-En Han (180-1995) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Taiyuan T. moved-up to second place, which they share with Taipower. Defending champion Cathay Life still keeps top position with two games lost. Taiyuan T. is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Chunghua T. (#4) in the next round. Cathay Life will play against the league's second-placed Taipower and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a key game for the second position in the league. It was a good game for point guard Rui-Zhen Song (160) who led her team to a victory with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Pei-Xin Song contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Oshlynn Brown (185, college: Rutgers) replied with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Chunghwa Telecom. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Taipower moved-up to second place, which they share with Taiyuan T. Chunghua T. at the other side dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Taipower will play against league's leader Cathay Life in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chunghua T. will play against Taiyuan T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
