The defending champion New Taipei Kings (TPBL) hired experienced 57-year-old American coach John Patrick for the 2025-26 season. He coached last season at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the German league. He also coached for another German team, EnBW Ludwigsburg (BBL), in Germany.
Patrick has coached previously in Germany between BG Goettingen and s Oliver Baskets, and in Japan between Alvark Tokyo and Jets.
Between 2018 and 2023, his team won the Japanese B League Emperor's Cup and he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Basketball Champions League Coach of the Year.
