TPBL Round 21 (Regular Season): Kings lose to Taipei TM

The Regular Season in T1 League is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Kings (22-8) recorded its eighth loss against fifth ranked Taipei TM on Wednesday night. Taipei TM were rolled over by Taipei TM 107-83. Taipei TM forced 22 Kings turnovers. The best player for the winners was French Adrien Moerman (202-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. American point guard Ray McCallum (191-1991, college: Detroit) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Kenny Manigault (195-1991, college: Pikeville) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Taipei TM (15-18) moved-up to fourth place. Kings at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Taipei TM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kings will play on the road against Kaohsiung A. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Kings delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked N.Taipei CTBC (14-16) 111-79. It was a good game for Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (204-1988) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. Jeremy Lin contributed with 22 points and 8 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. American point guard Daron Russell (180-1998, college: Maryland) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds for N.Taipei CTBC. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kings maintains first place with 22-8 record. N.Taipei CTBC at the other side keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Kings will play against Kaohsiung A. (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. N.Taipei CTBC will play against Lioneers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Dreamers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 113-95 on Saturday. Beau Beech stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Daron Russell with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. N.Taipei CTBC's coach Momir Ratkovic rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Dreamers maintains second place with 17-13 record having five points less than leader Kings. Loser N.Taipei CTBC keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Dreamers will meet Taiwan Beer L. (#6) in the next round. N.Taipei CTBC will play against Lioneers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 21 bottom-ranked Lioneers were defeated by Taiwan Beer L. 95-83. Taiwan Beer L. was smashed by Kaohsiung A. 75-103.

Taipei TM - Kings 107-83

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Lioneers' (10-22) loss to sixth ranked Leopards (13-16) 83-95 on Saturday. Taiwan Beer L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Lithuanian center Egidijus Mockevicius (208-1992, college: Evansville) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and American-Liberian Lasan Kromah (198-1991, college: UConn, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Leopards players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Kuo-Hao Kao (179-1998, college: SEMO) with 23 points and 5 assists and American forward Nate Laszewski (208-1999, college: Notre Dame) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Lioneers' coach Milan Mitrovic tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Leopards have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 13-16 record. Loser Lioneers stay at the bottom position with 22 games lost. Taiwan Beer L. will meet league's second-placed Dreamers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lioneers will play against N.Taipei CTBC (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Leader Kings delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked N.Taipei CTBC (14-16) 111-79. Kings dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to N.Taipei CTBC's 34 and made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Kings players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by N.Taipei CTBC's players. N.Taipei CTBC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Palestinian power forward Sani Sakakini (204-1988) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. American power forward Kaleb Wesson (208-1999, college: Ohio St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Tzu-Hsuan Chiu (190-1999, college: Snow CC) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. Four Aquas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international point guard Jin-Wei Gao (175-2000) with 19 points and 6 assists and American-Liberian Lasan Kromah (198-1991, college: UConn, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kaohsiung A. maintains third place with 17-15 record having three points less than leader Kings. Defending champion Taiwan Beer L. keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Kaohsiung A. will meet league's leader Kings in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Taiwan Beer L. will play against the league's second-placed Dreamers (#2) and hope to secure a win.
