SBL Round 9: Bank of Taiwan keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Bank of Taiwan as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Bank of Taiwan defeated their close opponent Taiwan Beer in Taipei 88-71. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Bank of Taiwan forced 19 Taiwan Beer turnovers. Strangely Taiwan Beer outrebounded Bank of Taiwan 42-30 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Zak Irvin (198-1994, college: Michigan) chipped in 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bank of Taiwan (16-5) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Taiwan Beer at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Taiwan Beer will play next round against Pauian trying to get back on the winning streak. Bank of Taiwan will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Yulon Luxgen at home.

Yulon Luxgen at the other side dropped to the third position with 11 games lost. Bank of Taiwan will again play against Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Yulon Luxgen will play against Jeoutai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Taiwan Beer will meet bottom-ranked Pauian (#5) in the next round. Jeoutai will play against Yulon Luxgen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Taiwan Beer won against Pauian 78-66. Jeoutai managed to outperform Pauian 95-83. Yulon Luxgen managed to beat Pauian 76-63.



Pauian - Taiwan Beer 66-78

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Pauian (1-19) was defeated by second ranked Taiwan Beer (17-5) 78-66 on Thursday. Taiwan Beer looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Kentrell Barkley (195-1996, college: ECU, agency: Haylett Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Canadian power forward Keanau Post (210-1992, college: Missouri) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-1991, college: Portland St.) who recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward C.J. Aiken (206-1990, college: St.Joseph's) added 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Taiwan Beer keeps a position of league leader. Pauian lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Taiwan Beer will meet Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pauian will play again against the league's leader Taiwan Beer and hope to win that game.

Rather predictable result when third ranked Jeoutai (9-12) defeated bottom-ranked Pauian (1-19) 95-83 on Saturday. They outrebounded Pauian 51-32 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jeoutai shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jalen Robinson (206-1993, college: Dalton St.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian-American swingman Nicholas Wiggins (198-1991, college: Z*Orangeville A's) chipped in 26 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-1991, college: Portland St.) who recorded 26 points and 5 rebounds and guard Yi-Lun Chen (172-1998) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Jeoutai and four Pauian players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Jeoutai went down to fourth position due to points difference. Pauian lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Jeoutai will meet higher ranked Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pauian will play against the league's leader Taiwan Beer and hope to win that game.
