SBL Round 5: Taiwan Beer beat Bank of Taiwan by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 5 in the SBL ended with only two-point defeat of second-ranked Bank of Taiwan (8-3) to first ranked Taiwan Beer (11-1) 79-77 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Bank of Taiwan. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Taiwan Beer made 10 blocks. American players dominated the game. Guard Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Doral Moore (216-97, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winners. Power forward Ishmael Lane (203-97, college: NSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for Bank of Taiwan. Taiwan Beer have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Bank of Taiwan at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Taiwan Beer are looking forward to face Jeoutai (#4) in the next round. Bank of Taiwan will play against Pauian and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very important is a loss of third ranked Jeoutai (4-7) against fourth ranked Yulon Luxgen (4-7) on Sunday night. Jeoutai was defeated by Yulon Luxgen 90-79. American power forward Torren Jones (206-94, college: William Penn) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Nicholas Wiggins chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Jalen Robinson (206-93, college: Dalton St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jeoutai's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Yulon Luxgen moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Jeoutai. Jeoutai lost their third game in a row. Yulon Luxgen will play against league's leader Taiwan Beer in Taipei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jeoutai will play at home against the league's leader Taiwan Beer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Jeoutai lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Yulon Luxgen. Taiwan Beer will meet Yulon Luxgen (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Jeoutai will play again against the league's leader Taiwan Beer and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: bottom-ranked Pauian was smashed by Bank of Taiwan 96-70. Bottom-ranked Pauian was destroyed by Yulon Luxgen 77-98. Bottom-ranked Pauian unfortunately lost to Taiwan Beer 71-83.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 18 points and 14 rebounds by C.J. Aiken of Pauian.



Bank of Taiwan - Pauian 96-70

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Bank of Taiwan (8-3) crushed bottom-ranked Pauian (1-10) 96-70 on Thursday. Bank of Taiwan forced 25 Pauian turnovers. American swingman Zak Irvin (198-94, college: Michigan) nailed 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Ishmael Lane (203-97, college: NSU) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Bank of Taiwan players scored in double figures. Bank of Taiwan's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-91, college: Portland St.) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jou-Chen Huang (192-97) added 4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Pauian in the defeat. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Bank of Taiwan. They maintain second place with 8-3 record having four points less than leader Taiwan Beer. Pauian lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Bank of Taiwan will again meet bottom-ranked Pauian (#5) in the next round. Pauian will play against Jeoutai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Taiwan Beer dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Jeoutai's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Doral Moore (216-97, college: Wake Forest) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle) accounted for 16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
