Al Wahda Damascus (SBL) signed 31-year old American forward Jamel Artis (201cm-98kg-1993, college: Pittsburgh, agency: BIG). Artis moved there from Champville in Lebanese LBL league where he played this season. In 17 games he was league's fifth best scorer with impressive 19.0ppg and averaged 4.7rpg, 2.6apg and 1.0spg.
He is quite experienced player. Artis has played in eleven different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Dominican Republic (El Million), France (Metropolitans and Chorale de Roanne), Greece (Ionikos), Kosovo (Trepca), Lithuania (Juventus), Mexico (Mineros), Philippines (North Port), South Africa (Tigers), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, NY Knicks, Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings), NBA G League (Osceola Magic and Ontario Clippers) and The Basketball Tournament (Sideline Cancer and Zoo Crew). Artis was also voted to All-ACC Honorable Mention back in 2015 and 2017.
He played in the final of Kosovo League in 2023.
Artis graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 2017 and it is his seventh season as a professional player.
