SBL Round 9 (Regular Season): Al Wahda keep a leadership position

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Al Wahda as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Wahda smashed bottom-ranked Al Wathba in Damascus 100-60. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Al Nawaeer. Al Wathba at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Al Wathba will play next round against Al Jaish trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Wahda will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Al Ittihad in Aleppo.
Another exciting game for Al Jalaa (5-3) which played in Aleppo against 5th ranked Al Hurriyeh (4-4). Sixth ranked Al Jalaa upset home team edging them after exciting game by one point 81-80. Al Jalaa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Ittihad and Al Karameh. Al Hurriyeh lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Al Jalaa will play against league's second-placed Al Nawaeer in Hama in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Hurriyeh will play on the road against Al Karameh (#3) in Homs and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Al Ittihad (5-3) against fourth ranked Al Nawaeer (6-3) on Friday night. Visiting Al Ittihad was defeated by Al Nawaeer in Hama 85-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Ittihad. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Nawaeer have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al Wahda. Loser Al Ittihad dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Jalaa and Al Karameh. Al Nawaeer will meet Al Jalaa (#5) in the next round. Al Ittihad will play against the league's leader Al Wahda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Loser Al Karameh keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Al Ittihad and Al Jalaa. Al Jaish will meet bottom-ranked Al Wathba (#8) in the next round. Al Karameh will play against Al Hurriyeh (#6) and hope to secure a win.
