Al Ittihad signs Antwaine Wiggins, ex Al Naft

Antwaine Wiggins

Al Ittihad Ahli of Aleppo (SBL) signed experienced 34-year old American forward Antwaine Wiggins (203cm-1988, college: Charleston) for upcoming 2023-24 season. Wiggins played last season at Al Naft in Iraqi Superleague. In 9 West Asia Super League games he had very impressive stats: 25.6ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.8apg, 2.1spg and 1.7bpg.
He ended the previous (2021-22) season at Ahly Benghazi (D1) in Libyan league. 2021-22 was a great season as he was named to Afrobasket.com All-Libyan League Second Team. But the most of that year he spent at Al Ahli in Qatari QBL where in 19 games he was league's second best scorer with remarkable 26.3ppg and averaged 9.7rpg, 3.5apg, 3.2spg (leader !!!) and 1.5bpg in that year. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. 2021-22 was a great season as he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Qatar D1 Forward of the Year, named to 1st Team and named to All-Imports Team.
In 2016 (four years after his graduation) he was drafted by Raptors 905 (D-League) in second round (43rd overall).
He graduated from College of Charleston in 2012 and it is his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Wiggins is quite experienced player. He has played on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). Wiggins has played previously professionally in Argentina (Platense), Brazil (Palmeiras), Greece (PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki, Lavrio and Ifaistos) and NBA G League (Raptors 905 Missisauga). He won Iraqi League championship title in 2023.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Greek A1 Defensive Player of the Year back in 2019.
