SBL Round 18: Al Ittihad beat Al Jalaa in a derby game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in SBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Aleppo: Al Ittihad (#1) and Al Jalaa (#4). Al Ittihad (14-1) won against visiting Al Jalaa (9-4) 80-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Jalaa. Al Ittihad have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-1 record. Al Jalaa at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Al Karameh and Al Nawaeer. Al Ittihad will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Jalaa will play on the road against the league's second-placed Al Wahda (#2) in Damascus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Damascus. Third ranked Al Wahda faced second-best Al Nawaeer. Host Al Wahda (10-3) defeated guests from Hama (9-4) 81-69. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Wahda have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Al Nawaeer at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Jalaa and Al Karameh. Al Wahda will play against Al Jalaa (#6) in Aleppo in the next round. Al Nawaeer will play on the road against Al Hurriyeh in Aleppo and hopes to get back on the winning track.

And what about a second win in a row after ...thirteen consecutive losses. Al Wathba (2-13) moved-up to tenth place. Al Taleiah lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Al Wathba will meet at home higher ranked Al Jaish (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Al Taleiah will have a break next round.

Rest of the games of round 18 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Hutteen was crushed by Al Karameh in Homs 113-63. Tishreen was smashed by Al Jaish at home 72-115. Al Taleiah was destroyed by Al Karameh on the opponent's court 112-79.




Al Taleiah - Al Wathba 77-82

Bottom-ranked Al Wathba managed to get the second consecutive victory on Friday night. This time they won against tenth-ranked Al Taleiah in Hama 82-77. And what about a second win in a row after ...thirteen consecutive losses. Al Wathba (2-13) moved-up to tenth place. Al Taleiah lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Al Wathba will meet at home higher ranked Al Jaish (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Al Taleiah will have a break next round.

Al Karameh - Hutteen 113-63

There was no surprise in Homs where 9th ranked Hutteen (3-12) was crushed by sixth ranked Al Karameh (9-4) 113-63 on Friday. Al Karameh moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Jalaa and Al Nawaeer. Hutteen lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Al Karameh will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hutteen will play against Tishreen (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Al Wahda - Al Nawaeer 81-69

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Damascus. Third ranked Al Wahda faced second-best Al Nawaeer. Host Al Wahda (10-3) defeated guests from Hama (9-4) 81-69. No shocking result in a game in Latakia where fifth ranked Al Jaish (10-4) smashed 7th ranked Tishreen (5-9) 115-72 on Saturday. Al Jaish moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Tishreen keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Al Hurriyeh. Al Jaish will meet Al Wathba (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tishreen will play against Hutteen in Lattakia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
