SBL Round 16: Al Nawaeer lose to Al Ittihad in the game between Top 4 teams

The game between Top Four teams took place in Aleppo. First ranked host Al Ittihad (11-1) defeated 3rd ranked Al Nawaeer (8-3) 82-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Nawaeer. Al Ittihad have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-1 record. Al Nawaeer at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Wahda and Al Jalaa. Al Ittihad are looking forward to face Tishreen (#7) in Latakia in the next round where they are favorite. Al Nawaeer will play at home against Al Karameh (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked Al Wathba (0-13) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to seventh ranked Tishreen (5-7) 80-69. Newly promoted Tishreen maintains seventh position with 5-7 record. Al Wathba at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Tishreen will play against league's leader Al Ittihad in Aleppo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Al Wathba will play at home against Al Hurriyeh (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Karameh. Al Wahda have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jalaa and Al Nawaeer. Loser Al Karameh dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Al Wahda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Damascus to the arena Al Jaish.

In the last two games of round 16 Hutteen was destroyed by Al Jalaa on the opponent's court 81-57. Al Taleiah was outscored by Al Hurriyeh in a home game 64-85.




Al Jalaa - Hutteen 81-57

Very expected game in Aleppo where 9th ranked Hutteen (3-10) was crushed by fifth ranked Al Jalaa (8-3) 81-57 on Friday. Al Jalaa moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Wahda and Al Nawaeer. Loser Hutteen keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Al Jalaa will meet Al Taleiah (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hutteen will play against the league's leader Al Ittihad and hope to secure a win.

Loser Al Taleiah keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Al Hurriyeh will meet bottom-ranked Al Wathba (#11) in the next round. Al Taleiah will play against Al Jalaa and hope to win that game.
