SBL Round 15: Al Ittihad edge Al Jaish by three points

The most exciting game of round 15 in the SBL took place in Damascus. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-best Al Jaish (9-3) to first ranked Al Ittihad (10-1) 78-75 in the game for the first place. Al Ittihad have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 10-1 record. Al Jaish at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Al Ittihad are looking forward to face Al Nawaeer (#3) in Hama in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al Jaish will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Al Wathba (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-63 loss to sixth ranked Al Wahda (7-3) in Homs. Al Wahda have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Jalaa. Al Wathba at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Al Wahda will play against higher ranked Al Karameh (#4) in Homs in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Wathba will play on the road against Tishreen (#7) in Latakia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Aleppo was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Tishreen (4-7) played at the court of eighth ranked Al Hurriyeh (4-8). Al Hurriyeh managed to secure a 4-point victory 78-74 on Tuesday. Al Hurriyeh maintains eighth place with 4-8 record. Tishreen lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Al Hurriyeh will meet Al Taleiah (#10) in the next round. Tishreen will play against Al Wathba and hope to secure a win.




Al Hurriyeh - Tishreen 78-74
