Division I Round 11: Al Wahda defeat Al Ittihad

Second-ranked Al Ittihad (6-2) gave a tough game to leader Al Wahda (10-0) in Damascus on Friday. Al Wahda managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of Al Ittihad. Undefeated Al Wahda have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Al Ittihad at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Homs: Al Karameh (#6) and Al Wathba (#4). Al Karameh (5-2) won against visiting Al Wathba (5-3) 84-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Wathba. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jalaa. Al Wathba at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Jaish.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Al Jaish (5-3) against ninth ranked Al Nawaeer (2-5) on Thursday night. Visiting Al Jaish was edged by Al Nawaeer in a tough game in Hama 82-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Jaish. Al Nawaeer moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Hurriyeh. Loser Al Jaish dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Wathba.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 11: Hutteen lost to Al Thawra on the opponent's court 55-58. Al Faiha was outscored by Al Jalaa in a home game 52-87. Al Hurriyeh recorded a loss to Al Taleiah on the road 68-55.



Al Thawra - Hutteen 58-55

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Damascus where 11th ranked Hutteen (1-7) was edged by twelfth ranked Al Thawra (1-6) 58-55 on Thursday. Al Thawra left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Al Faiha. It was Hutteen's third loss in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost.

Al Nawaeer - Al Jaish 84-82

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Al Jaish (5-3) against ninth ranked Al Nawaeer (2-5) on Thursday night. Visiting Al Jaish was edged by Al Nawaeer in a tough game in Hama 82-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Jaish. Al Nawaeer moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Hurriyeh. Loser Al Jaish dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Wathba.

Al Faiha - Al Jalaa 52-87

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Al Jalaa (5-2) smashed on the road 10th ranked Al Faiha (1-6) 87-52 on Thursday. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Jalaa. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Karameh. Al Faiha lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Al Thawra.
