Division I Round 23: Al Ittihad lose to Al Karameh in the game between Top 4 teams- May 7, 2021

Al Ittihad - Al Karameh 69-73 The game between Top Four teams took place in Aleppo. 3rd placed host Al Ittihad (17-4) lost to second ranked Al Karameh (19-2) 73-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Ittihad. Al Karameh keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Jaish. Al Ittihad at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Al Karameh is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Al Ouroube (#12) in Aleppo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Al Ittihad will play on the road against the league's leader Al Jaish (#1) in Damascus and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Al Wahda - Al Hurriyeh 82-68 Very expected game in Damascus where 10th ranked Al Hurriyeh (6-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Al Wahda (13-7) 82-68. Al Wahda maintains fourth place with 13-7 record. Al Hurriyeh lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Al Wahda will have a break next round. Al Hurriyeh will play on the road against Al Wathba (#7) in Homs and hope to win that game. Al Jalaa - Al Jaish 80-84 Division I top team - Al Jaish (19-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Al Jalaa (12-9) in Aleppo 84-80. Al Jaish have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-2 record, which they share with Al Karameh. Al Jalaa lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Al Jaish will play against Al Ittihad (#3) in Aleppo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al Jalaa will play on the road against Al Wathba in Homs and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Al Thawra - Al Nawaeer 71-74 A very close game took place in Damascus between Al Nawaeer and Al Thawra. Eighth ranked Al Nawaeer (9-12) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Al Thawra (7-14). Al Nawaeer managed to escape with a 3-point win 74-71 on Tuesday evening. Al Nawaeer moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Wathba. Loser Al Thawra keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Al Nawaeer's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Hama Al Talee'a. Al Yarmouk - Al Talee'a 49-77 11th ranked Al Yarmouk (1-19) was outscored at home by sixth ranked Al Talee'a (11-9) with the biggest margin this round 77-49. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Talee'a. They maintain sixth place with 11-9 record. Al Yarmouk lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Al Talee'a's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Hama . Al Wathba - Al Ouroube 92-71 Rather predictable result in Homs where eighth ranked Al Wathba (9-12) smashed bottom-ranked Al Ouroube (1-20) 92-71. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Wathba. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Nawaeer. Al Ouroube lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 20 lost games. Al Wathba's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Jalaa (#5) in Aleppo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Ouroube will play on the road against the league's second-placed Al Karameh (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory. |
