NBL Round 10 (Regular Season): Hornets beat Adroit in the most crucial game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was when First ranked Hornets faced their biggest opponent Adroit. Hornets (8-1) defeated Adroit (6-2) 72-63. The former international forward Duanyang Xu (191-2002) fired 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Malaysian center Russell Low-Wen (200-1993) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Zhong-Han Wong (183-1997) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hornets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record. Defending champion Adroit keeps the second place with two games lost.
Leader Hornets delivered the eighth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Tong Whye (2-6) 96-67 in Singapore. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. Ding-Loon Tay contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Hornets' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Marco Kok replied with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Tong Whye. Hornets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record. Tong Whye at the other side keeps the ninth place with six games lost.

Rest of the games of round 10 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Tagawa was defeated by Siglap 73-55. Chong Ghee was beaten by SBA 63-68. Xin Hua lost to SG Bball 77-82.



Siglap - Tagawa 73-55

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Tagawa (4-4) was defeated by third ranked Siglap (6-3) 73-55. Siglap outrebounded Tagawa 60-34 including a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. American center Kyle Jeffers (207-1985, college: Oregon St.) contributed with 7 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Harihaaran Parathy added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tagawa. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Siglap maintains third position with 6-3 record having just two points less than leader Hornets, which they share with SG Bball. Tagawa lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost.

Chong Ghee - SBA 63-68

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked SBA (3-5) defeated 6th ranked Chong Ghee (3-5) 68-63. SBA had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Emil Putra who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Wei Long Wong contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four SBA players scored in double figures. Jay-Shay Lin replied with 29 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Alpha McKevin (193-2002) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Chong Ghee. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SBA moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Chong Ghee.

Hornets - Tong Whye 96-67

Leader Hornets delivered the eighth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Tong Whye (2-6) 96-67 in Singapore. Hornets forced 20 Tong Whye turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. Malaysian Ding-Loon Tay (185-1994) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Hornets players scored in double figures. Very expected game when 8th ranked Xin Hua (3-6) was defeated by fourth ranked SG Bball (6-3) 82-77. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Shengyu Lim (192-1990) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. Jonathan Hai contributed with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cheng Shan Tan replied with 18 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard John-Jing Ng (190-1994) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Xin Hua. Four Xin Hua players scored in double figures. Xin Hua's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SG Bball have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Siglap. Xin Hua at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost.
