NBL Round 11 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with Xin Hua's defeat of Tagawa

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tagawa. They outrebounded Tagawa 62-43 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. International guard Terry Lua (191-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Martin Lim contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Harihaaran Parathy answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds for Tagawa. Tagawa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Xin Hua moved-up to fifth place. Tagawa at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Xin Hua are looking forward to face Nanyang (#8) in the next round. Tagawa will play against Tungsan and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Singapore: Hornets (#1) and Tong Whye (#4). Tong Whye was defeated at home 59-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tong Whye. It was a great evening for Malaysian center Russell Low-Wen (200-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Espinosa Haribon helped adding 14 points. Hornets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International guard Benjamin Lim (184-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Undefeated Hornets (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Tong Whye at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Hornets will play against Nanyang (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tong Whye will have a break next round.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between SBA (5-6) and Nanyang (3-6), which took place in . 7th ranked SBA lost at home to tenth ranked Nanyang 59-65 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Aik Chua-Cheong who led the winners and scored 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Haran Prem came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds for SBA in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nanyang moved-up to eighth place. Loser SBA keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Nanyang will meet higher ranked Xin Hua (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SBA will have a break next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11: Police was smashed by Chong Ghee on the road 80-60. Siglap won against Tungsan on its own court 88-71. SG Bball unfortunately lost to Adroit in Singapore 65-78.
The most impressive performance of 11th round was 20 points and 10 rebounds by Hanbin Ng of Adroit.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chong Ghee (8-2) crushed at home 11th ranked Police (2-9) 80-60 on Saturday. Chong Ghee outrebounded Police 49-26 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for the former international point guard Jay-Shay Lim (177-1997) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Phua-Karl Dahlen accounted for 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Five Chong Ghee players scored in double figures. Chong Ghee's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bayot Ferrera came up with 15 points and Wei How Chua added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Police in the defeat. Chong Ghee maintains third place with 8-2 record behind leader Hornets. Police lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Chong Ghee will meet at home league's second-placed Adroit in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Police will have a break next round.

It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. International guard Xavier Ng Jun (188-2000) accounted for 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Kyran Catiter came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Prasant Selvakumar added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Tungsan in the defeat. Five Siglap and four Tungsan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Siglap moved-up to ninth place, which they share with SG Bball. Newly promoted Tungsan stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. The former international swingman Hanbin Ng (193-1989) accounted for 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Adroit's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Jonathan Hai came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Bin Putra (180-2002) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for SG Bball in the defeat.
