NBL round 8 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Adroit (6-1) against top-ranked Hornets (6-0) 72-67 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Adroit. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Malaysian Russell Low-Wen contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Hornets' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Delvin Goh (201-1995) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for Adroit. Undefeated Hornets have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Adroit dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Chong Ghee. They were replaced at the leadership position by Hornets. Adroit will play next round against Xin Hua trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Singapore to the arena of Xin Hua. Hornets will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Chong Ghee at home.
Bottom-ranked Tungsan is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked Tong Whye (6-3) 84-71. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds and Benjamin Lim who added 21 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Solomon Akinfiresoye responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Tungsan's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tong Whye moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Tungsan still closes the standings with six games lost. Tong Whye will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tungsan will play against Tagawa (#7) in Singapore and hopes to get finally their first victory.
