NBL Round 4 (Regular Season): Nanyang lose to SG Bball

Nanyang (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of seventh ranked SG Bball on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by SG Bball 66-38. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nanyang. SG Bball held Nanyang to an opponent 21.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners. SG Bball forced 20 Nanyang turnovers. The former international power forward Shengyu Lim (192-1990) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Shi-Yang Ng chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Ying Lee produced 6 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Nanyang's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. SG Bball maintains seventh position with 2-2 record. Nanyang at the other side dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. SG Bball are looking forward to face Tagawa (#10) in Singapore in the next round. Nanyang will play against the league's leader Adroit (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Singapore: Tong Whye (#6) and Tagawa (#8). Tong Whye (3-1) won against visiting Tagawa (1-3) 60-51. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. Yeong-Wooi Khaw contributed with 8 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds for Tagawa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tong Whye moved-up to third place, which they share with SBA. Tagawa at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Siglap. Tong Whye will play against Chong Ghee (#5) in the next round. Tagawa will play against SG Bball (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Undefeated leader Adroit delivered the third consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Police (0-4) 72-56. Worth to mention a quality performance of Qing-De Wu who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side Bayot Ferrera responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Police's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Adroit have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 3-0 record, which they share with Hornets. Newly promoted Police still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Tungsan. Adroit will meet Nanyang (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Police will play against Xin Hua (#8) in Singapore and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Rest of the games of round 4 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Xin Hua lost to undefeated Chong Ghee in a road game 41-64. Siglap was smashed by SBA at home 33-53. Winless Tungsan lost to undefeated Hornets on the opponent's court 50-103.




Chong Ghee - Xin Hua 64-41

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Xin Hua's (1-2) road loss to top-ranked Chong Ghee (2-0) 41-64 on Saturday. Chong Ghee held Xin Hua to an opponent 23.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Chong Ghee forced 19 Xin Hua turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Alpha McKevin who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds and international guard Justen Chiam (177-2002) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Chong Ghee players scored in double figures. At the losing side Zhe Lim responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Terry Lua (191-1997) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chong Ghee moved-up to fifth place. Loser Xin Hua dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Chong Ghee will meet higher ranked Tong Whye (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Xin Hua will play against Police (#11) and hope to win that game.

No shocking result in a game in Singapore where fourth ranked SBA (3-1) smashed 9th ranked Siglap (1-3) 53-33 on Saturday. SBA held Siglap to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of Haran Prem who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Zhi-Cai Tng (183-1998) who added 5 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. SBA's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Kai Ning Ong responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. SBA moved-up to third place, which they share with Tong Whye. Siglap lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with Tagawa. SBA will meet league's second-placed Hornets in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Siglap will play against SG Bball (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Malaysian guard Qing-De Wu (188-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and the former international swingman Hanbin Ng (193-1989) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Adroit players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bayot Ferrera responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Sim Jun scored 15 points. Police's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Adroit have a solid three-game winning streak. Very expected game in Singapore where bottom-ranked Tungsan (0-4) was rolled over by top-ranked Hornets (3-0) 103-50 on Saturday. Hornets dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tungsan's 34. Hornets forced 28 Tungsan turnovers and outrebounded them 58-33 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds and Espinosa Haribon who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest.
