NBL Round 12 (Regular Season): Tong Whye hands first defeat to Adroit

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Adroit (10-1) recorded its first loss in Singapore on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Tong Whye (8-3) 70-61. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Adroit. Tong Whye looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was international forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. International guard Yuhui Zhen (180-1998) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Meng Leon Kwek Wei (190) who recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds. Adroit's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tong Whye maintains third position with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Adroit. Adroit at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Hornets.
Important game to mention about took place in Singapore. Second ranked Hornets (10-1) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Xin Hua (6-5) 87-85 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Xin Hua. It was a good game for the former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Russell Low-Wen contributed with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Hornets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Zao Liang Chia replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for Xin Hua. Hornets have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion used an opportunity after Adroit lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Xin Hua at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost.
A very close game took place in (derby !!!) between SBA and Siglap. Eighth ranked SBA (5-6) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Siglap (7-4). SBA managed to escape with a 3-point win 65-62 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Siglap. Worth to mention a great performance of Jia Rong Koh who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Kok-Chiang Goh with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists. SBA moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chong Ghee. Loser Siglap dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with SG Bball.

Rest of the games of round 12 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Zebra was defeated by SG Basketball in a road game 62-44. Tagawa beat Nanyang CSC at home 55-45. SBA won against SAFSA Skyblade on the opponent's court 77-64.




SBA - Siglap 65-62

A very close game took place in (derby !!!) between SBA and Siglap. Eighth ranked SBA (5-6) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Siglap (7-4). SBA managed to escape with a 3-point win 65-62 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Siglap. SBA dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Siglap's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of Jia Rong Koh who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Zhi-Cai Tng (183-1998) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four SBA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Kok-Chiang Goh with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international point guard Mitchell Folkoff (180-1989) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. SBA moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chong Ghee. Loser Siglap dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with SG Bball.

SG Bball - Zebra 62-44

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Zebra (0-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked SG Bball (7-4) 62-44 on Tuesday. SG Bball forced 24 Zebra turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Shi-Yang Ng who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and Ismail Mohamed who added 10 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. SG Bball's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Hao Seng Fong produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. SG Bball moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Siglap. Newly promoted Zebra still closes the standings with ten games lost.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Singapore where tenth ranked Tagawa (3-7) defeated 9th ranked Nanyang (3-8) 55-45 on Wednesday. Tagawa forced 26 Nanyang turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Harihaaran Parathy who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Aik Chua-Cheong with 9 points and Marvino Mohan scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tagawa moved-up to ninth place. Nanyang lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost.

Rather expected game in Singapore where 11th ranked SAF (1-10) was defeated by eighth ranked SBA (5-6) 77-64 on Wednesday. SBA forced 21 SAF turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Jia Rong Koh who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Haran Prem who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four SBA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jeryl Neo with 16 points and Andy Liow scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SBA moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Chong Ghee. SAF lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost.
