NBL Round 11 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Adroit defeat Tagawa

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

NBL top team - Adroit (10-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat tenth ranked Tagawa (2-7) 77-64. Adroit outrebounded Tagawa 50-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Zhong-Han Wong (183-1997) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Jun Liang Lim Myron helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) responded with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Tagawa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Adroit have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Tagawa at the other side keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Adroit are looking forward to face Tong Whye (#4) in Singapore in the next round. Tagawa will play against Nanyang (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Zebra (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to fourth ranked Tong Whye (7-3) 94-66. It was an exceptional evening for international forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) who led the winners and scored 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Yeong-Wooi Khaw accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. Tong Whye's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Gavin Tay (188-1999) came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds for Zebra in the defeat. Tong Whye moved-up to third place, which they share with Siglap. Zebra lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Tong Whye will play against league's leader Adroit in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zebra will play against SG Bball (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked SG Bball (6-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Chong Ghee (5-6). SG Bball managed to secure a 9-point victory 74-65 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Shi-Yang Ng who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Isaac Kevin produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SG Bball maintains fifth place with 6-4 record, which they share with Xin Hua. Newly promoted Chong Ghee keeps the seventh position with six games lost. SG Bball will meet at home bottom-ranked Zebra (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chong Ghee will have a break next round.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 11: SAF was destroyed by Hornets on the opponent's court 103-51. Nanyang was outscored by Siglap in a home game 62-86. SBA recorded a loss to Xin Hua on the road 75-64.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 12 points and 9 rebounds by John-Jing Ng of Xin Hua.

Chong Ghee - SG Bball 65-74

Hornets - SAF 103-51

Very expected game in Singapore where 11th ranked SAF (1-9) was crushed by second ranked Hornets (9-1) 103-51 on Sunday. Hornets dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to SAF's 38. Hornets forced 25 SAF turnovers and outrebounded them 50-34 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hornets looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by SAF's players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Kelvin Lim (191-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 25 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Malaysian Russell Low-Wen chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Hornets players scored in double figures. Hornets' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Jeryl Neo produced 7 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yung-Juen Teo (191-2003) added 13 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hornets. Defending champion maintains second place with 9-1 record behind leader Adroit. SAF lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Hornets' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Singapore to the arena Xin Hua.

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Siglap (7-3) smashed on the road 9th ranked Nanyang (3-7) 86-62 on Sunday. Siglap outrebounded Nanyang 64-41 including a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Siglap looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Delvin Goh (201-1995) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 23 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Vignesh Rengarajan (186-1998) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Four Siglap players scored in double figures. International guard Benjamin Lim (184-1997) produced 11 points and 6 rebounds and Aik Chua-Cheong added 8 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Nanyang's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Siglap moved-up to third place, which they share with Tong Whye. Nanyang lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Siglap will meet SBA (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nanyang will play against Tagawa in Singapore and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Not a big story in a game in Singapore where 8th ranked SBA (3-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Xin Hua (6-4) 75-64 on Sunday. Xin Hua looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Cheng Shan Tan who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Malaysian forward Kok Fong Chan (192-1987) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Xin Hua players scored in double figures. The former international guard Wei-Long Wong (187-1988) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Haran Prem added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. SBA's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Xin Hua moved-up to fifth place, which they share with SG Bball. Newly promoted SBA keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Xin Hua's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Singapore Hornets.
