NBL Round 6 (Regular Season): Xin Hua lose to SG Bball

NBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 6 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Singapore between third ranked Xin Hua (4-2) and eighth ranked SG Bball (2-2) on Wednesday night. Xin Hua was defeated by SG Bball at home 55-67. SG Bball held Xin Hua to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.4 percent accuracy of the winners. SG Bball forced 19 Xin Hua turnovers. It was a good game for Shengyu Lim who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 19 rebounds. Shi-Yang Ng contributed with 16 points for the winners. Zao Liang Chia replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds for Xin Hua. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SG Bball moved-up to seventh place. Xin Hua at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Tong Whye. SG Bball are looking forward to face Tagawa (#11) in Singapore in the next round. Xin Hua will play against Nanyang (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
NBL top team - Adroit (7-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Chong Ghee (3-3) 69-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chong Ghee. The former international point guard Zhong-Han Wong (183-1997) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Meng Leon Kwek Wei chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Yuan Lim Jun with 13 points and 8 assists. Chong Ghee's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Adroit have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Newly promoted Chong Ghee keeps the sixth place with three games lost. Adroit will play against league's second-placed Siglap in Singapore in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chong Ghee will play on the road against Hornets (#3) in Singapore and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Tagawa is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Tong Whye (4-2) 74-66 on Tuesday evening. Lavin Raj V notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by Shi-Yu Ng did not help to save the game for Tagawa. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tong Whye have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Xin Hua. Loser Tagawa still closes the standings with five games lost. Tong Whye's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Singapore SAF.

In the last game of round 6 winless Zebra lost to undefeated Siglap on the road 62-71.
The most impressive performance of 6th round was 18 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists by Delvin Goh of Siglap.




Tong Whye - Tagawa 74-66

Bottom-ranked Tagawa is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Tong Whye (4-2) 74-66 on Tuesday evening. International forward Lavin Raj V (201-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Justin Tan-Kai supported him with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Four Tong Whye players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by international forward Shi-Yu Ng (197-2000) did not help to save the game for Tagawa. Minghui Pan added 8 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tong Whye have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Xin Hua. Loser Tagawa still closes the standings with five games lost. Tong Whye's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Singapore SAF.

Siglap - Zebra 71-62

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Siglap (4-0) beat bottom-ranked Zebra (0-6) in Singapore 71-62 on Wednesday. The former international forward Delvin Goh (201-1995) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) to lead the effort and Wee-Kiat Lim supported him with 10 points and 7 assists. Four Siglap players scored in double figures. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by Malaysian Hoong-Shen Ho did not help to save the game for Zebra. Filipino Miguel Tan added 10 points and 4 assists. Zebra's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Siglap have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Zebra still closes the standings with six games lost. Siglap will meet at home league's leader Adroit in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zebra will play against SBA (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
