Doha – March 27, 2026: The Qatar Basketball Federation Arena witnessed a night of intense competition at the conclusion of the second phase of the Qatar Women’s Basketball League for the 2025–2026 season. Excitement and rivalry filled the halls on Friday, March 27, 2026, across courts (1) and (2) at the Federation headquarters, in two matches that carried different rhythms and decisive moments. Al-Gharafa succeeded in overcoming Al-Shamal with a 69–61 victory, while Al-Adham snatched a thrilling win over Al-Khor by just one point, 64–63. Both encounters reflected the growing technical level and the close performances among the teams.
These matches marked the resumption of the Women’s League following a temporary pause, after the Qatar Basketball Federation announced the official return of its domestic competitions. The packed schedule aims to raise the players’ technical and physical readiness while intensifying the competitive spirit among participating teams. The third phase is set to begin on Friday, April 3, 2026, with Al-Gharafa facing Al-Adham and Al-Shamal meeting Al-Khor, both tipping off at 8:00 p.m. on courts (1) and (2) at the Federation headquarters. These anticipated clashes may play a pivotal role in shaping the competition’s outlook. The third phase continues on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with Al-Khor taking on Al-Gharafa and Al-Adham meeting Al-Shamal. The league will conclude on Friday, April 10, 2026, with two final matchups: Al-Gharafa vs. Al-Shamal and Al-Khor vs. Al-Adham. The season will close with an official awards ceremony honoring the top three teams, alongside recognition for outstanding players, coaches, and teams based on performance and results. This season’s league is played under a three-phase system, with the title awarded to the team that accumulates the most points across all matches. The format is designed to enhance competitiveness and player readiness. Al-Adham participates with developmental and technical objectives; its results are not counted in the official standings, but the team gains valuable competitive experience by facing top-tier opponents, contributing positively to the growth of the sport locally. |
