Doha, Qatar – September 25, 2025
The Al-Adeem women’s basketball team delivered an impressive performance, securing a commanding 71-45 victory against Oman’s Women’s Sports and Cultural Creativity Club in their second match of the second edition of the Gulf Women’s Basketball Championship. The game showcased exceptional skill and determination from the Al-Adeem players, marking a strong rebound after their opening-round loss to Kuwait’s Al-Fatat Sports Club (64-81).

Demonstrating a balanced approach to offense and defense, Al-Adeem controlled the game’s tempo from the outset, capitalizing on lessons learned from their previous match to refine tactics and enhance on-court coordination. The Omani team had previously defeated the UAE’s Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy 62-39 in the championship’s opening round.

The tournament features four Gulf teams: Qatar’s Al-Adeem, the UAE’s Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy, Kuwait’s Al-Fatat Sports Club, and Oman’s Women’s Sports and Cultural Creativity Club. The competition follows a single-round-robin format, with Al-Adeem set to face Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy in the third round on Friday, September 26, at 6:00 PM. The championship will conclude on Saturday, September 27, with matches determining the third and fourth places, followed by the final to crown the champion.

Head Coach Rana Bazazo, from Lebanon, praised the team’s high spirit and ability to learn from past games, noting that their cohesive performance was key to the victory. The Al-Adeem delegation includes a skilled roster of players—Alaa Suleiman, Maya Al-Khatib, Nziha Agha, Sama Jasser, Sarah Maadid, Tanya Al-Taweel, Mona Suleiman, Dana Suleiman, and professional players Rebecca Akl (Lebanon) and Tina Stevens (USA)—supported by a dedicated staff, including Coach Rana Bazazo, fitness coach Milis Shdeed, physiotherapist Maha Al-Raqeeq, and team manager Saria Ranko.

Organized with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Emirates,” the championship reflects the region’s strong commitment to advancing women’s sports, with oversight from Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy.
