QBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Al Gharafa defeat Al Sadd in the closest game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 13 in the QBL took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Al Sadd (5-9) to fifth ranked Al Gharafa (8-6) 98-96 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sadd. American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-1992, college: URI) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Nedim Muslic (196-1998) chipped in 24 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side Nigerian-American guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Al Gharafa moved-up to fourth place. Al Sadd at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Al Gharafa are looking forward to face Al Wakrah (#5) on the road in the next round. Al Sadd's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Ahli D. (#1) and Al Gharafa (#5). Al Ahli D. (11-3) won against visiting Al Gharafa (8-6) 86-74. American guard Bruce Massey (190-1990, college: MTSU, agency: BIG) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and Ndoye Seydou accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese center Adama Diakhite (205-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for Al Gharafa in the defeat. Al Ahli have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-3 record. Al Gharafa at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#2) and Qatar Club (#6). Al Arabi (10-3) won against visiting Qatar Club (5-8) 82-77. Walter Lemon Jr fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Sindou Diallo produced 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists for lost side. Al Arabi maintains second place with 10-3 record behind leader Al Ahli D. Qatar Club lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Al Arabi will meet at home bottom-ranked Al Khor (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qatar Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.

In the last two games of round 13 bottom-ranked Al Khor was destroyed by Al Sadd on the opponent's court 90-70. Al Rayyan unfortunately lost to Al Ahli in a home game 69-77.




Al Ahli D. - Al Gharafa 86-74

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Ahli D. (#1) and Al Gharafa (#5). Al Ahli D. (11-3) won against visiting Al Gharafa (8-6) 86-74. Al Ahli made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American guard Bruce Massey (190-1990, college: MTSU, agency: BIG) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side and international forward Ndoye Seydou (201-1999) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese center Adama Diakhite (205-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Patrick McGlynn (188-1992, college: URI) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Al Gharafa in the defeat. Rather expected game in Doha where 9th ranked Al Khor (1-12) was crushed by seventh ranked Al Sadd (5-9) 90-70 on Saturday. Nigerian-American guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American Darryl Owens chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: BIG) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jerald Gillens-Butler (196-1997, college: Elon) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Four Al Khor players scored in double figures. Al Sadd have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 5-9 record. Al Khor lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Al Sadd's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#2) and Qatar Club (#6). Al Arabi (10-3) won against visiting Qatar Club (5-8) 82-77. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Qatar Club's 36. They outrebounded Qatar Club 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American guard Walter Lemon Jr (191-1992, college: Bradley) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Center Mohamed Hussein (203-1996) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Rather predictable result in Doha where first ranked Al Ahli (11-3) defeated 3rd placed Al Rayyan (8-5) 77-69 on Tuesday. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 28. American guard Bruce Massey (190-1990, college: MTSU, agency: BIG) fired 27 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals for the winners. International forward Ndoye Seydou (201-1999) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Nick Griffin (188-1995, college: St.Peter's) produced 12 points and 8 assists and forward Hamad Mousa (194-2006) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Ahli have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-3 record.
