The most exciting game of round 7 in the QBL took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Qatar Club (4-3) to fifth ranked Al Rayyan (4-2) 74-72 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Qatar Club. They outrebounded Qatar Club 39-28 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Senegalese power forward Mouhammad Faye (207-1985, college: SMU) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side the former international forward Faris Avdic (201-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Qatar Club at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Wakrah. Important game to mention about took place in Al Wakrah. Sixth ranked Al Wakrah (4-3) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 7th ranked Al Sadd (2-5) 79-77 on Saturday evening. Americans were the main players on the court. It was an exceptional evening for guard Darious Clark (193-1990, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Diamond Sports) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Aaron Mitchell accounted for 13 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Center Ronald Delph (213-1993, college: FAU) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds for Al Sadd in the defeat. Al Wakrah moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club. Al Sadd lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. Al Wakrah will play against league's second-placed Al Ahli in Doha in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
