Regular Season Round 7: Al Rayyan - Qatar Club 74-72

The most exciting game of round 7 in the QBL took place in Doha. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Qatar Club (4-3) to fifth ranked Al Rayyan (4-2) 74-72 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Qatar Club. They outrebounded Qatar Club 39-28 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Senegalese power forward Mouhammad Faye (207-1985, college: SMU) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side the former international forward Faris Avdic (201-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Holland Woods II (184-1999, college: GCU, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points and 6 assists. Four Qatar Club players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Qatar Club at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Shamal.
