Qatar stay undefeated in GCC Championship

Qatar stay unbeaten at the inaugural GCC Championship in Doha. The hosts improved at 3-0 record following back-to-back wins at the weekend. Qatar prevailed against UAE 56:45 in the second round. The hosts grabbed an early lead and recorded a 12:9 advantage after ten minutes. Qatar stayed in front throughout the second period and accumulated a 10-point halftime advantage 25:15. UAE matched the hosts effort in the third term but it was not enough. Qatar stayed in front and eventually rolled to a 56:45 victory. Warda Mourgam provided 21 points and 10 rebounds for Qatar. Amal Aurad added 13 points and impressive 23 rebounds in the victory. Latifa Moubarak answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds for UAE. Ziekha Abdulla had 10 points in the loss.
Qatar took on Kuwait in the third round. The game turned into a one-way traffic as the home team earned a comfortable 52:29 victory. The hosts led by just a single point after a low-scoring first half 15:14. But Qatar shifted the gear in the second half and fired 37 points to run away for the victory. Warda Mourgam tallied 24 points, 13 boards and 7 assists for Qatar. Amal Aurad provided 11 points and 15 rebounds in the win. Esha Adnan and Atlaf Mousaed had 6 points each in the losing effort.
