The biggest surprise took place in Makati City where host Warriors (8-2) edged league's leader Painters (8-2) 92-90 on Wednesday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. NLEX RW forced 44 Rain or Shine turnovers and outrebounded them 366-300 including a 366-300 advantage in defensive rebounds. NLEX RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when NLEX RW made 20 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Robert Bolick (185-1995) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 5 assists and 11 steals. Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass) chipped in 21 points and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Jaylen Johnson (206-1996, college: Louisville, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 assists and 8 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. NLEX RW keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Rain or Shine. Rain or Shine will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. It was a good game for center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Bennie Boatwright contributed with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Marvin Jones (213-1993, college: Texas Southern) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for Bolts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hotshots. Meralco Bolts at the other side keep the fifth position with three games lost. SM Beermen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meralco Bolts' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Ginebra Kings.
