Bottom-ranked Black Bears (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-97 loss to third ranked Warriors (6-1) in Makati City on Tuesday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. NLEX RW outrebounded Macau 47-33 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. NLEX RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Macau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Guard Robert Bolick (185-1995) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Warriors' coach Jong Uichico used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Mexican forward Tony Mitchell (203-1992, college: N.Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for lost side. Warriors have a solid four-game winning streak. NLEX RW moved-up to second place. Macau at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Rhon Jhay Abarrientos contributed with 28 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American power forward James Dickey III (208-1996, college: UNCG, agency: JCK Sports Group) replied with 21 points, 21 rebounds and 9 assists for Phoenix. Phoenix at the other side keeps the sixth place with three games lost. Ginebra Kings will play against Terrafirma Dyip (#8) in Makati City in the next round.
