PBA Round 12 (Regular Season): Rain or Shine defeats Hotshots in the game between Top 4 teams

An interesting game for Painters (8-2) which played road game in Pasig City against 4th ranked Hotshots (6-4). Second ranked Painters managed to get a 9-point victory 101-92. Rain or Shine shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Andy Barroca replied with 14 points and 5 assists for Hotshots. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Painters have a solid three-game winning streak. Rain or Shine keeps a position of league leader. Hotshots at the other side keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with FiberXers and NLEX RW. Another interesting game for Meralco Bolts (5-4) which hosted in Manila against higher ranked FiberXers (6-4). Eighth ranked Meralco Bolts crushed visitors 105-84. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 rebounds and Norman Black who added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized Spanish guard Juan Gomez De Liano (184-1999) with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meralco Bolts have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ginebra Kings. FiberXers at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Hotshots and NLEX RW. The winners were led by June Mar Fajardo who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by James Una did not help to save the game for Blackwater. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Beermen have an impressive seven-game winning streak. SM Beermen maintains second position with 7-2 record behind leader Rain or Shine. Blackwater lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Terrafirma Dyip. SM Beermen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Meralco Bolts.

In the last two games of round 12 NLEX RW was smashed by TNT Tropang on the road 119-100. Phoenix lost to Titan UGR on its own court 119-127.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 21 points and 11 rebounds by Jhonard Clarito of Rain or Shine.



TNT Tropang - NLEX RW 119-100

Everything could happen in Makati at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked TNT Tropang and 6th ranked Warriors had identical 6-3 record. This time TNT Tropang used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Makati City 119-100 on Saturday night. TNT Tropang outrebounded NLEX RW 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by naturalized Australian guard Jordan Heading (188-1996, college: CBU) who scored that evening 32 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Calvin-John Oftana supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by did not help to save the game for NLEX RW. Kevin Alas added 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TNT Tropang (7-3) moved-up to third place. Loser Warriors dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with FiberXers and Hotshots. TNT Tropang will meet at home Blackwater (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Titan UGR made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game, while Phoenix only scored sixteen points from the stripe. Titan UGR looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by Calvin Abueva who had that evening a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Aris Dionisio supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Even 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by naturalized American forward Jason Perkins (193-1992, college: VCSU) did not help to save the game for Phoenix. Tyler Tio added 16 points and 10 assists.
