PBA Round 1 (Regular Season): Terrafirma Dyip lose to Blackwater

The Regular Season in PBA just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Terrafirma Dyip in Makati City on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Bossing 107-87. Blackwater outrebounded Terrafirma Dyip 59-41 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Terrafirma Dyip helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Canadian forward Christian David (198-1998, college: Butler) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. Jerrick Ahanmisi produced 25 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bossing will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. The game in Pasig City was also worth to mention about. Kings played at the court of Hotshots. Hotshots managed to secure a 7-point victory 80-73. Worth to mention a great performance of who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Jerom Lastimosa contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. American Stephen Holt (193-1991, college: SMC) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for Ginebra Kings. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very close game took place in Manila between Warriors and Beermen. Warriors got a very close victory on the road over Beermen. Warriors managed to escape with a 1-point win 85-84 on Wednesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Brandon Ramirez stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side June Mar Fajardo responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Warriors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Makati City Terrafirma Dyip.

In the last two games of round 1 Titan UGR defeated Meralco Bolts in Pasig City 100-96. Phoenix lost to undefeated TNT Tropang at home 78-93.



Meralco Bolts - Titan UGR 96-100

But Bolts were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Pasig City 100-96 on Wednesday night. Titan UGR made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Meralco Bolts turnovers. Strangely Meralco Bolts outrebounded Titan UGR 58-43 including 27 on the offensive glass. stepped up and scored 41 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). At the losing side CJ Cansino responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Brandon Bates produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Four Meralco Bolts players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Titan UGR will meet at home FiberXers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
