Painters made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a good game for guard Antonio Asistio (178-1995) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 assists. Naturalized American forward Keith Datu (201-1996, college: Chico St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Painters players scored in double figures. Forward Calvin-John Oftana (195-1996) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American forward Henry Galinato (198-1997, college: BENUM) added 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for TNT Tropang. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

SM Beermen - Ginebra Kings 90-100

Kings looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Johnny Abarrientos (173-1970) who scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Jamie Malonzo (198-1996) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and guard Celedonio Trollano (191-1992) added 22 points respectively. Five Kings and four Beermen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
