PBA Round 18: No surprise as #1 Bay Area D. defeat TNT Tropang- November 26, 2022

Bay Area D. - TNT Tropang 140-108 PBA top team - Bay Area D. (10-2) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed ninth ranked TNT Tropang (4-7) in Hong Kong 140-108. Bay Area D. looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by TNT Tropang's players. American guard Myles Powell (188-1997, college: Seton Hall) scored 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian guard Kobey Lam (190-2000, college: Charleston) chipped in 30 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Matt Mobley (195-1994, college: St.Bonaventure) with 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and power forward John Paul Erram (203-1989) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bay Area D. have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Bay Area D. maintains first position with 10-2 record. TNT Tropang lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with NLEX RW. Bay Area D. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TNT Tropang will play on the road against SM Beermen (#6) in Manila and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 44. They outrebounded Terrafirma Dyip 56-44 including a 46-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. SM Beermen players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists. Terrafirma Dyip was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Devon Scott (206-1994, college: Dayton) notched a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the effort and center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Five SM Beermen players scored in double figures. Even 28 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) by guard Juan Tiongson (178-1991) did not help to save the game for Terrafirma Dyip. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Ginebra Kings. NLEX RW forced 21 Ginebra Kings turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) notched a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and guard Celedonio Trollano (191-1992) supported him with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 39 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) did not help to save the game for Ginebra Kings.
