PBA Round 3: Ginebra Kings are defeated by Rain or Shine

After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the PBA and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of Ginebra Kings (0-1) in Manila on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by Rain or Shine (1-1) 93-71. Strangely Ginebra Kings outrebounded Rain or Shine 56-41 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Steve Taylor Jr (206-1993, college: Toledo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Leonard Santillan (195-1996) helped adding 15 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rain or Shine are looking forward to face Terrafirma Dyip (#13) in Makati City in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ginebra Kings' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Meralco Bolts.
Important game to mention about took place in Makati City. NLEX RW (2-0) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Blackwater Elite (1-2) 105-102 on Friday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 25 rebounds and 4 assists. Celedonio Trollano accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds. American center Cameron Krutwig (206-1998, college: Loyola, IL) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists for Blackwater Elite in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last two games of round 3 winless Terrafirma Dyip lost to undefeated Hotshots on the opponent's court 92-100. North Port managed to outperform Meralco Bolts in a home game 101-95.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 44 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists by Robert Bolick of North Port.



Hotshots - Terrafirma Dyip 100-92

Very expected game in Pasig City where Terrafirma Dyip (0-2) was defeated by Hotshots (1-0) 100-92. Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Terrafirma Dyip's players. Terrafirma Dyip was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian-American forward Nick Rakocevic (211-1997, college: USC, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 25 rebounds. Point guard Jiovani Jalalon (175-1992) accounted for 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. British V.Islands-Indonesian center Lester Prosper (210-1988, college: Old Westbury, agency: YoungGroup Unlimited) came up with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard Juan Tiongson (178-1991) added 19 points respectively for Terrafirma Dyip in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hotshots will play against FiberXers (#4) in Makati in the next round. Terrafirma Dyip will play on the road against Rain or Shine (#6) in Manila and hopes to get finally their first victory.

North Port - Meralco Bolts 101-95

Rather predictable result in Pasig City where North Port (2-1) defeated Meralco Bolts (0-1) 101-95. North Port made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Meralco Bolts outrebounded North Port 71-42 including a 31-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 13 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for guard Robert Bolick (185-1995) who led the winners and scored 44 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American-Rwandan center Prince Ibeh (208-1994, college: Texas) accounted for 12 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks for the winning side. Four North Port players scored in double figures. American power forward Johnny O'Bryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists and center Raymond Almazan (206-1989) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Meralco Bolts in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. North Port will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meralco Bolts' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manila Ginebra Kings.
