MBL Round 9 (Regular Season): BCH Knights beat Miners by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 9 in the MBL took place in Erdenet. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Miners (6-5) to first ranked BCH Knights (10-1) 73-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Miners. It was a good game for American guard Davion Warren (198-1999, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. contributed with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Pendarvis Williams (198-1991, college: Norfolk St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for Miners. BCH Knights have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Miners at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Selenge. BCH Knights are looking forward to face Darkhan (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Miners will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Ulaanbaatar. Ninth ranked Falcons (3-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging second-best Apes (8-6) 90-89 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Batmandakh Bat-Erdene chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was South Sudanese guard Peter Jok (198-1994, college: Iowa) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Newly promoted Falcons maintains ninth place with 3-7 record. Apes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second position with six games lost. Falcons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Apes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Ulaanbaatar Xac Broncos.

Omoefay Johnson nailed 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Uuganbayar Tumenbayar came up with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Metal in the defeat. Broncos have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 7-3 record having four points less than leader BCH Knights. Loser Metal keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Xac Broncos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ulaanbaatar to the arena Apes.

In the last game of round 9 bottom-ranked Mongolians were beaten by Brothers on the road 101-93.



Metal - Xac Broncos 64-74

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Ulaanbaatar: Broncos (#3) and Metal (#8). Metal was defeated at home 64-74 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a great shooting night for Xac Broncos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. American forward Omoefay Johnson (206-1999, college: SMU, agency: Diamond Sports) nailed 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Tushig Elbeg accounted for 16 points. Four Broncos players scored in double figures. came up with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian forward Ben Stevens (207-1999, college: Laurier) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Metal in the defeat. Broncos have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 7-3 record having four points less than leader BCH Knights. Loser Metal keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Xac Broncos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ulaanbaatar to the arena Apes.

Apes - Falcons 89-90

Important game to mention about took place in Ulaanbaatar. Ninth ranked Falcons (3-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging second-best Apes (8-6) 90-89 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Falcons made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Apes were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Brandis Raley-Ross stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Batmandakh Bat-Erdene chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was South Sudanese guard Peter Jok (198-1994, college: Iowa) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Munkhbayar Enkhbat scored 14 points. Brothers - Mongolians 101-93

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Brothers (6-6) beat bottom-ranked Mongolians (1-11) in Uliastai 101-93 on Sunday. Brothers shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. American guard McKenzie Moore (198-1992, college: UTEP) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side and D Delgerniam accounted for 22 points and 10 rebounds. Four Brothers players scored in double figures. American guard Byron Wesley (196-1992, college: Gonzaga) came up with 39 points (!!!) and 5 assists and Sukhbat Bat-Erdene added 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Mongolians in the defeat. Despite that victory Brothers went down to sixth position due to points difference. Mongolians lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Brothers will meet at home Metal (#8) in the next round. Mongolians will have a break next round.
